A History of Success

This history of the Rio Hondo Community Development Corporation is a history of success. In 2002 City of El Monte leaders of economic and community development started a conversation to form a new nonprofit organization.

The purpose of Rio Hondo CDC would make first-time home ownership and housing a priority for low-to-moderate income families. On August 28, 2003, a portfolio of three (3) City-owned rental properties with 23 units was transferred for RHCDC to manage and maintain.

Since that time, Rio Hondo CDC has added more units of affordable rental housing in Rosemead and Baldwin Park. Since 2008, Rio Hondo CDC has build 13 units of new housing sold to income-qualifying first time homebuyers.
